ok so i haven't watched housemd since i was a kid and just finished s1 and i am just. why is cameron written like that. genuinely her thing with house had me so completely lost this season. feels like a waste of a great actress but?? maybe I'm wrong?? she just feels so. empty as a character to me. regardless i would love to know what your opinion is on the character bc from what i remember it doesn't get better from here
I dont blame you ban-joey and I really appreciate your courage to send this off anon. We probably have the same experience. I watched house as a kid too (when I was 14, like 10 yrs ago) and hated her for being contrarian and inconsistent and in the way. But since then i’ve looked inward and found i was imposing double standards wrought by internalized misogyny. Anyway.
My opinions on cameron:
Number 1, if i were her i would shoot my shot with house too. excuse me. as if most of us on here are not just twenny… thirty somethings pining after old men. happily going on a monster truck date? getting a date in return for the old man to have me back on my team? Yeah. I respect the hustle. fuck that old man or whatever. marry him when he’s sick. phantom thread him
Number 2, liking Cameron is easy once you accept. That she is really really really not normal. I know this may be something you already know. But internalize it. She says something righteous but it doesnt mean that that is her defining trait. There is something so deeply wrong with her. I know you’re still on season 1 and Yes she Gets Worse but if you are working with the same lens as i am (that there’s something WRONG with her) then everything that happens makes sense. [spoilers] Of course youre only attracted to people when they’re sick and dying. Of course your reaction to being told youre boring is getting high on your patient’s drugs a few weeks away from your HIV test results. Of course you wanted to cheat on your dying husband with his best friend who comforted you while your husband was dying but you didn’t and you still haven’t after the fact he died. Of course you kept your dead husband’s sperm. Of course you wanted to kill a dictator but didnt, and then got pissed at your husband who Did kill him, a husband you actually felt nothing for and was hesitant to even let propose to you [/end spoilers] she’s so funny. If she were a guy they’d call her a messy bitch and love her for it. she has uncategorizable mental illnesses masking as a savior complex.
Number 3, you’re right about the emptiness on some level though. They wanted to write her out of the show and they did her so bad. And I’d say yeah she’s inconsistent as a character, but that goes for Everyone in this show. House isn’t consistent. Wilson isn’t consistent. None of them are consistent. Cameron is only as well-written as the writer who knows how to write her. I’ve suspected the only reason i hated her when I was 14 was she got in the way of hilson. But nowadays that stuff is so unserious to me. All i care about now is messy people being messy about other people
Number 4, she compels me. I like that she’s interesting. I don’t like most of her decisions, I disagree with her the most, but it’s interesting. She’s fun to Watch. She’s no Foreman (that guy is a case study in layers of character depth but that’s for another ramble) but that’s more than i can say for her than someone like, say, Chase LMAO
That being said if you dont like cameron then that’s fine 👍 we live in a society etc etc
I end with this (thank you jackie for putting this image on my feed)

Oh Rafiq has double barrels?? 👀 👀 👀 I also think you should make a list of roommates and their measurements… oh and who would be willing to help me do laundry??? Inspired by your recent reblogs. 👀
-double dick anon
I'll have to come up with something interesting about Aleric's cock bc vampires don't really have a monster form, but I do love the idea that vampire bites are like a strong aphrodisiac to humans so maybe that's enough? (idk monster penises are fun though. i'll think about it)
anyway. thank you for giving me a great first hcs for ATWH...
And They Were Housemates... "helping" with laundry
Lycaon
Honestly, he’s not great at doing laundry to begin with. Back in his day you had to wash everything by hand so the whole washing machine thing is new to him
Once you show him how to use it though, he’s really proud of himself for Learning A Technology and he wants to help out more often!
He offers to do your laundry and yours alone
He’s not paying much attention. Just kind of grabbing something and tossing it in like you showed him.
When he reaches your unmentionables he just stops dead in his tracks and stares at the laundry basket. He’ll avoid touching them until they’re the last things in there.
He’s blushing. Let’s not even talk about what he’d do if someone walked in right now (he’d panic)
Finally, he quickly throws as many as he can in at once. He missed one, of course. It really took a lot of mental preparation for him to do that to begin with and now there’s one more??
He pulls out the last pair of underwear and holds it as far away from himself as possible, but he can’t help being a little curious. No one really comes down here anyway…
They’re much more revealing than he expected… he pictures them on you and his face instantly turns red… He quickly tosses them in with the others, paranoid someone might show up (as if they can read his dirty thoughts?)
Regardless, he can’t get the image of you wearing those out of his mind…
If you let him do your laundry again, he’ll look a little closer. He really respects boundaries (because he has such rigid boundaries himself) so he’ll never steal them, but there would definitely be a point at which he’d give them a little sniff…
Rafiq
Rafiq was throwing in a load of laundry- as a gardener, he needs to wash his clothes pretty frequently.
He asked if you had anything (because he’s a gentleman? Maybe. To see your underwear? probably.)
As he’s going through your basket, he finally reaches your underwear. He inspects each pair you’ve trusted him with, although since he wants you to let him do this again, he’s not going to take any (yet)
He’ll return your laundry, folded and neat (including your underwear)
He’s definitely going to comment on them. Depending on the style of undies you wear, he might say “Frilly little things” “Very practical” or (depending on the nature of your relationship) how they probably look better with you in them…
If you let him continue to do your laundry, you might notice a pair or two go missing every once in a while. They always turn up again after a week or two though.
Rafiq is very discreet about it. He finds the pair thickest with your scent and slips it into his pocket, returning to the greenhouse as casually as possible so he can experience them fully…
He loves your scent. But more than that, he loves picturing them hugging your cute ass… tight on your sex… and now he’s rubbing them against both his cocks thinking about how you’ll innocently put these on after he’s washed and returned them
The first time, they’re absolutely soaked in cum. Then, he makes a point to always have a pair on hand for this exact purpose. He cycles them out because what’s hottest to him is thinking about you wearing something so defiled by his seed…
There’s definitely a point where he will have cum all over every pair you own, then washed and returned them to your collection.
A human wouldn’t notice, but even after getting washed they can be heavy with his scent. It’s his way of getting a little possessive
Diaval
Diaval is also doing laundry frequently. Working in the shop means he’s gotta wash his coveralls weekly.
He’s happy to do you the favor of adding some of your things in.
Honestly, he doesn’t think twice about it until he reaches into your basket and pulls out a pair of underwear.
He grins. Looks around, listens carefully. If no one’s around, he’ll inspect them closer.
He’s definitely going to smell them.
At this point he’s more curious than anything. He’ll do this to every pair in the basket until he reaches the last.
Of course, he wants you to continue to trust him to do laundry so he doesn’t take any, but he’s really tempted by a particularly cute pair that he’s loving picturing you in.
That image remains in his mind for a couple of weeks until you ask him to do your laundry again.
At this point, he’s obsessed with this pair. He’s been masturbating thinking about you in them. When he finds them in the basket again, he smells them deeply and shoves them in his pocket.
Those are his little treat now, sorry
He doesn’t cum into them at first, he just takes in your scent as he touches himself. Eventually, he can’t resist and rubs them on his hard cock and he can’t go back. He cums in these a truly obscene amount
It’s been long enough that he couldn’t possibly return them, so he just washes them with his clothes and uses them to masturbate religiously. They barely even smell like you anymore but he won’t dare take another pair.
Aleric
When you asked him to do your laundry, this man immediately thought about your underwear.
Part of him wanted to request you don’t include them, but he didn’t want to seem like a pervert by bringing it up at all.
This guy doesn’t touch his laundry. He just pours it into the machine and hits go. So after dumping your clothes in, he noticed on the very top was, you guessed it, a pair of your undies.
He stares at them a truly stupid amount of time. He wants to pick them up. Touch them. Smell them. He can almost smell them from here, if he focuses enough.
Literally. He’s just looking. Staring at the top of the pile.
Like for a really long amount of time. A third bullet point about it amount of time.
A text message breaks him out of whatever trance he was in, not realizing the half-chub in his pants, just from seeing your underwear.
He glances at his phone, you sent him a cute thank you for doing your laundry and his cock throbs.
He can’t stop himself now. You were basically asking him to take a little gift for himself, right? He pockets the underwear and starts the laundry, rushing to his room to take care of himself
As he rubs them on his cock, he’s picturing how he would slide them aside to enter you, humping his fist desperately like it’s you.
Immediately after he cums all over them he’s incredibly embarrassed. He’s even more embarrassed that not even 10 minutes has passed, so he can just add them back into the laundry like nothing happened.
He might “accidentally” run an extra cycle to make sure you never find out…
It’s highly likely he’ll do it again, though
#i saw an image the other day that was just zhongli cock studies. just several images of his dick. anyway that's what i might do for ATWH#except it's just one image of each of their dicks lmao. maybe two if their monster form is significantly different#and they were housemates...#ATWH... hcs#oc diaval#oc lycaon#oc aleric#oc rafiq#double dick anon

ik u said no anon but my blog is @lueurais (i don’t want to reveal my main blog) but it’s totally understandable if u don’t respond!
hi! i would love to take part in your game!
the moments i feel alive are the moments i feel free, physically and mentally. being out in nature and engaging with the natural world around me helps me connect to what is living and breathing, and it makes me feel alive ✨️
i often don’t tend to resonate with the readings i see from you, i haven’t fully been through your pac masterlists but for the ones i have, there hasn’t been an image or pile that i feel immediately drawn to, so i don’t end up reading it. or if i do, it doesn’t feel appropriate for me. which makes sense bc these are general readings and not everything is meant for me. your readings are still great regardless, and i love the vibes and aesthetics of your pacs

Hello there! Thank you for participating @lueurais. I think I already know your main account because when the first time I read this ask, I suddenly figure someone else account even though we aren't even close but I won't mention it because I might be wrong.
Do you consider yourself as a healer and might be, you know that you have skill as a healer. I see one of your prior problems here with your past life is your health. You didn't even have a healthy body and often get sick in the past perhaps you maybe died in the wars and battles that can cause traumas to you like even a small fight you get scared easily but right now, you were finally healthy. While if you aren't that close to your mother and the relationship between you and them is quite distant, this reading is a sign for you to heal your mother wounds. And maybe, you like manifesting? then you are waiting for your manifestations to come or to be fulfilled but it keep getting blocked this is because your mother energy is being blocked, you need to forgive your own mother so your manifestations will comes in quickly. The mother energy is connected to Universe btw if you keeps blocking this mother energy, you seems blocking the universe energy and so your manifestations can't be fulfilled and happening. Healing and forgiveness is the answer.
Hope this make sense, Danise.

We make userboxes for systems!!
Inspired by systemuserboxes (not sure if they’re cool being tagged so I won’t).
DNI and Boundaries:
Normal DNI criteria/supporters
Endos and supporters (syscourse isn’t welcome here and people who send it in asks/messages will be blocked. This safe space belongs to CDD systems only)
Fakeclaimers - ever, for any disorder, for any reason. You have no way of knowing and are still harming all systems when you do this regardless of if you accidentally manage to be right. A broken clock is still right twice a day.
Haters of fictives/factives/introjects/object alters/concept alters/any alters. Basically just stop that crap or block me thanks.
No discussion of final fusion - discussion only, not systems with that goal/who have achieved it. Userboxes that simply express the goal of or interest in etc. final fusion is fine, just not discussion of it. It is great for the systems it works for, but is the biggest fear our host has, and therefore (because of how OCD works) becomes a loop he can’t get out of for weeks if he thinks about it. We genuinely want for you any type of healing that works for your system. We just don’t want to cause a crisis within ours.
No mentions of adult/18+ animation (not ones that just aren’t aimed at children but ones specifically similar to the listed ones) including but not limited to: Family Guy, Big Mouth, American Dad, The Simpsons, spinoffs of any of these, etc. This isn’t because of anything problematic in them (fictives can’t control their source and systems can’t control where fictives come from); it’s because of severe trauma inflicted on our host by way of these types of media.
Non-animation triggers that also require the same boundaries as above includes It’s Always Sunny, Destiny (both games), Halo, Fallout, and Child’s Play. We’ll update to add/remove as needed.
Please expect and be respectful of generally short physical and mental health breaks we may take from tumblr. We will announce these if/when we need them unless they come from an unexpected emergency or crisis.
We reserve the right to delete asks if needed for this to remain a safe space or to avoid our triggers. We will attempt to use this as little as possible, if ever.
We request that any specific images you ask us to use be linked for ease of access.
If you can, please use alt text when posting the images. We will attempt to do the same. Even if you only have the spoons to write the text contained in the userbox, we hope that it’s better than nothing for those who need it.
Anons are on, do not be afraid to send multiple asks, but you’re also welcome to send them as a bulk ask.
Credit is not necessary (but is fine), likes/reblogs appreciated if used but not required.

THE ANON THAT TALKED ABT DADDY LEIGHTON GOT A POINT AND YOU DOUBLED DOWN
I need more abt this asshole and their newly acquired successor the dynamic bastard duo, is it because of some trope? I don't know but who knows
I'm going to share too, maybe Leighton likes to dress his kid on a feminine way regardless to the gender but overall allows a pretty gender neutral look with baggy clothes, he loves seeing people get confused when asking about his kid he never gives a clear answer ALSO I HAVE A MENTAL IMAGE OF PC FULL LEATHER HIGH HIGH HEELS ON A TEACHER MEETING READY TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR DADDY WHAT THEY CAN DO
its more like, Leighton doesn't really care? He gets to sexualise them either way and molesterville is pretty progressive for a small town in england, with half not minding the player's gender and still wanting to fuck them and the other half being irritated when they found out you cross dress n shit.
But Leighton gets to dress them either way :3
First day back at school after the adoption? Leighton is the one laying your clothes out, smirking. Of course either you dont wear any underwear or he's laid out lingerie for you to wear to school.
He';s gonna enjoy accessible clothing and the gender gap has failed us, because dresses and skirts are always more accessible than trousers n shorts, so yeah, he's gonna go for them. That doesn't mean he doesn't LOVE peeling your shorts down to reveal no underwear and playing with your ass.
eheheh, thinking about parent teacher nights and leighton makes your teachers hang back at the end of the night so his kid can go last. after each session, he murmurs for you to go and thank your teachers and you crawl under their desk, sucking away as Leighton makes plans for you to either, 1, take make up classes if your grades aren't great, or 2, what extracurriculars you could take to make sure your education is as... expansive as it can be.
and who knows, one teacher may be leaving, walking past his door to see him rewarding you for being such a good student, eating you out as you squirm on his desk, thanking your daddy over and over again

Did your MC struggled with either her body image or her emotions after giving birth? Was it difficult for her to get back to her old self?
Hey, Anon!
Thank you so much for the thoughtful Ask!
Before I answer...
Postpartum is such a delicate time period that unfortunately is painfully ignored here in America. We feed women delusional optimism, that having a baby is sunshine, rainbows and unicorns, and while yes, babies are a precious gift, we gotta get real! We shame women who may have negative thoughts during and after their pregnancy. We have a lack of resources to help them. Most women who deliver in the hospital are given ONE postpartum appointment @ six weeks, and they lack proper support at home. For working women, maternity leave is anywhere between 6-12 weeks, often times not paid.
Luckily, it's being talked about more... but it's like a small leak: it's not enough, and healthcare is heading in the WRONG direction. When there is that big of a shift in your life, and I'm talking your chemistry, your anatomy, your physiology, your social spheres, your responsibilities, then of course, there will be a struggle to get back to "normalcy" (there is no going back, only a new normalcy). Some women make it look flawless and others are trainwrecks. But, let's get one thing straight: this is a HUGE change for every. single. woman. Regardless of age, race, culture, education, religion, disability, etc., the struggle is REAL, and I believe here in America, we are creating the struggle by creating unrealistic expectation for our moms, attributing to their mental health, and for some, it will affect the care of their baby.
Pregnant Tatum...
She really struggled emotionally and mentally DURING the first 20 weeks of her pregnancy (keeping her bump a secret for most of that time). It's true what the say: Ignorance is bliss. Sometimes knowing too much can rob you of your joy.
But, she was proactive about this: 1) she had an honest conversation with her colleague/doctor that she was gonna need something for anxiety; 2) she has a wonderful husband who knows her so freakishly well, and before this surprise ever happened, he knew she would probably not handle pregnancy well; luckily he's a great listener, and he's very realistic; 3) she reached out to her closest friends who were already moms for support.
Postpartum Tatum...
She knew stretchmarks, loose skin and a poorly-toned belly were part of the game. She knew she was going to lose her hair, her nails would become brittle and her skin would age. She knew that panty liners would become part of her daily life if she ever wanted to sneeze or cough again. She knew the 25-35 lb weight-gain would not disappear when the baby was born. She knew her breasts would chap, blister and bleed, not to mention lose their volume and tone.
"But when you see your baby, it'll be worth it."
Now that she has gone through the experience herself, she has 2 words: bull. shit. Now hold on; don't come for me. Tatum would gladly lay down her life for that precious one; but guilting a woman for being honest about her experience is bullshit. "Oh, quit your whining; you got a baby." Come. On.
Because she sought out support before the sudden change in her life, the initial rough moments of motherhood were few and far between. She has her low moments still where she feels absolutely inadequate as a mother (mom shame is REAL), as a wife, and as a physician. She gets frustrated with the size and shape of her body, sometimes too embarrassed to even expose herself in front of Ethan. Not to over simplify the "cure", but when she starts taking care of herself, that awful voice of self-hate goes away.
The journey into motherhood is quite the challenge, and Tatum experienced it first hand. She still believes it isn't for everyone, and every woman deserves to make that choice for herself. Motherhood was unexpected... but knowing how perfectly baby Ramsey fits into the family, she is grateful for how everything fell into place at the right time. And the love that she has for that little one is indescribable, not to mention that her love for Daddy Ramsey has grown exponentially.
Thank you again for including me on this Ask! I cannot wait to explore in more detail the Ramseys becoming parents.

Please tell me something about the Tpn soundtrack you haven’t said yet
Anon you're giving me too much power.
I'm not sure I posted this here but this is one of the very first analyses I made lol!!! Considering this theme plays several times throughout the track, but with different little changes, I tried figuring out what each meant. And thus:
Isabella's Lullaby (linked above): Of course, the source. It's where everything starts, but it gets adapted and moulded depending on the mood and whatnot. Its constant presence in the soundtrack symbolises how much Isabella interferes with the children, both physically and mentally, and how she was always there one way or another, whether it be good or bad.
Main Theme 2: I won't get much in depth on Main Theme 1/2 cuz I already talked about it here, but regardless, there's the big change at 5:45, a semi tone above from Main Theme 1, symbolising they've taken a step up. No matter how small, it's still a step, and they're starting fresh from here, with a brand-new arpeggio from the one we had heard so far in Main Theme 1.
Pf Solo Version: Played when Norman asks Emma if she'll take the traitor with them, and when Isabella is offering to recommend her to become a mama. In both cases a traitor is involved (Ray and Emma, if she accepted to become a Mama), which is probably why the theme is played with so many gaps: by becoming a traitor they choose to leave behind all the friends and hope and whatnot they had built and live a pretty lonely life, as shown via Ray.
Jailbreak: The theme is played with significant pauses, showing how the children are pushing through and trying their very hardest to escape Isabella's grasp, and eventually they do. I've actually written about this one before, too, but it's always nice to keep everything in one place.
Emma's Determination: An ascending bass, but not like the Gb Ab F Bb (up down up) in Isabella's Lullaby. It never goes down, and instead just repeats the second note. Something like A B B C# (up same up), like Emma won't let herself be let down and will keep climbing as high as she can.
Mandolin Version: The mandolin doesn't get nearly as much spotlight as the voice in the "source" version. There are times it's completely hidden within the harmonies (see 1:30), which is like how no matter how important Leslie was to Isabella, he was also just another child who fell victim to the farm system and didn't really accomplish anything huge in life (unlike her).
Emma's Sorrow: Although the notes are shorter in length like in the main themes, the pace is significantly slower, and unlike Emma's Determination, in which her goal is to not fall down, this one feels more like she's letting herself drop. The bass is pretty much always descending and whenever it does ascend it's slow, almost hesitant, like the C D D# E at 2:15. There isn't much power on the pick up notes either, like she's dragging herself up, and the violins on the second part (an octave higher) sound like they're screaming; like she's calling out for help. The song ends with a quick change to the last note, while the other versions tend to linger for a bit on a higher note before dropping down. Bottom line this version is just depressing and I could probably write a whole separate post on it.
Ray's Retaliation: Bet you didn't see this coming huh. This piece just takes the theme and completely distorts it to a point where you can barely recognise it, like, come on, Ray really meant a retaliation in every possible way. He not only turned his deal with Isabella against her, but his "I'm turning our deal against you" theme is just the result of someone throwing her oh so cherished lullaby in a washing machine then shuffling it into a deck of cards and adding some Ray Spice. He clearly has no regard for the song, after all, it has no good value to him, so might as well tear it apart and make it into something beneficial, just like those rewards he got and, of course, their deal in general.
Bonus Corner :P Orchestra Version (s2): I've gone a bit into this (in the form of jokes but ok) and I guess it's just showing how the children took what Isabella gave them (knowledge, love, etc) and used it to live independently, the instruments are playing Isabella's Lullaby but they no longer need her there to sing the melody, they can do it themselves. And the best part is that when they do it no one gets stepped on; all the instruments have their own important part to play and take turns with the spotlight.
Their Own Thoughts (s1): Like Ray's Retaliation, this one also has the theme, although completely rearranged lol!! Considering it's written about Conny not wanting to leave the house, it could symbolise how she had an unfortunately twisted image of Isabella in which she was nothing but a kind mother, thus the melody isn't melancholic like the Isabella's Lullaby but rather very warm and welcoming.
Hope this is enough to satisfy you ahah, thank you so much for the ask!! Feel free to drop by my dms if you have any questions or just send another ask ig lol idk have a great day!!!
#this was so pretty and organised until tumblr decided to :/#edit it got deleted again what#also im in a different time zone now and i have no idea of when's a good posting time#tpn music#mailbox#this was so fun to bring back from the depths of my brain lol#anon#thoughts

I’ve seen so many shippers say that sesshomaru would be such a terrible parent because he didn’t give her shoes or didn’t prevent her death and that’s why it’s not a father-daughter relationship. Yet also claim that he loved her and proposes to her (drama cd 12 year old girl) and somehow those same arguments don’t count? There’s no leg to stand on to argue that sesshomaru and rin were romantic because that’s literally pedophilia, so the only thing they can do is claim he was a terrible guardian?
Hey anon, thanks for the ask! Hope I can help. :)
You made some great points, thank you!! By their logic, why would somebody even want Sesshomaru with adult Rin at all if he was such a terrible "companion" to her in the first place? If they really believe he neglected her that much and put her in harm's way all the time (because let's be willfully ignorant here and pretend he didn't rescue her multiple times too and eventually leave her to live a normal *safer* life with Kaede), shouldn't they be concerned that he'd be just as bad to her in a romantic relationship once she's old enough, too? That should be something that crosses their mind as well if they weren't so preoccupied with Sesshomaru's supposed lack of parenting skills.
A lot of those shippers like to act like we're only attacking them for implying they must be pedophiles or that they condone pedophilia, but I personally would never make such a nasty accusation about a person in real life. Often times they refuse to address those other serious issues we have with this ship though, because it's really just the pedophilia talk they'll focus on since that's their only easy point to refute.
Aside from the possibility of Sesshomaru grooming Rin since her time in the village, a lot of us anti-s*ssrin fans never actually viewed him as a pedophile-like caretaker to begin with during their times traveling together. The only reason we even bring that up is because we simply cannot ignore when those shippers insist that:
1. He supposedly proposes to her (even when she's still only a child)
2. He's not like a father to her anyway so that's totally acceptable
Nah, even if they're right about him not being like a father to her, that's still plain wrong!! Because then now they're trying to justify an adult male very inappropriately making a move on a young girl here! Perhaps he wasn't pressuring her or forcing himself on her like a true pedophile would do at or around the time of the proposal, but can they really stand there and say that they'd be more than okay with witnessing something like that in real life and not in the slightest cringe??
Okay, this is where a lot of them will argue that this is not real life (so I guess that means we can forgive the child grooming if it's just fiction?), or that older men courting girls soon-to-be young women was the norm in feudal Japan so then that's cool in their books, too. The thing is, even if we can tolerate all that like they do, that's not enough reason to deem it acceptable since it's more than about that. We MUST also factor in that Sesshomaru isn't just some man who took a liking to a blossoming Rin he saw from afar. No no, this man KNEW her and was LIKE a father to her, too!
We can't stress that enough really! Whether by their standards he was a bad father or not doesn't matter, because all that does matter is that he took on a role resembling that of a father- YES, even if we never hear them call each other father or daughter exactly. We also didn't hear him claim outright that he's (falling) in love with her either, so why is one implied but not the other?! It's not like Sesshomaru is a man of many words anyway, but his actions have sure demonstrated to all of us that he cares for this young girl he took in very deeply and very truly. I mean, just look at the large portion of fan art out there for Sesshomaru and young!Rin (not S*ssrin). He's usually fondly embracing Rin or comforting her like a GOOD father or male guardian/caretaker would. So somebody please explain to me why Sesshomaru is only sweet or loving to Rin when it's convenient to your narrative but not ours? You can't just take an angle on their relationship and bend it at your will to justify him being a terrible demon father who didn't know how to protect a young human girl on one hand, but then show and share all this fan art of him doing the exact opposite on the other! It just makes no sense at all. You can't have your cake and eat it too!
So the special bond they formed over the YEARS they traveled alongside each other isn't something they can up and forget just because Rin is finally an adult. That can't simply clean their slate as if they had no prior established history between them. Their relationship resembles one a young girl shares with a grown man who looks after her for a significant amount of time (she didn't view him as just a demon; to her he was at the very least akin to a lord/vassal). So knowing all that we know about what they've endured together, I'd like to believe that Rin could never develop romantic feelings for her main role model, because whether he was physically there for her less than Jaken was is irrelevant. Sesshomaru is the one she really looked up to since that day he brought her back to life, and he's protected and cared for her the best way he could and in a way everyone failed to after her family died. It's safe to assume that Sesshomaru filled that role as you can tell that she finally felt safe and loved for the first time in a long time. Now if Rin were to start to become sexually attracted to this demon who basically came to represent everything she lacked in a family, then I'd be deeply troubled and concerned for her mental health. And same thing applies to Sesshomaru.
I would hope that whenever I have children someday, that they would never become physically intimate with whomever was their babysitter back when they were little. Nah, that man would be arrested!! He was around to watch her grow up and the thought of that being sexualized or romanticized, even if it wasn't intentional, makes me sick. I don't care if she's a consenting adult who is free to make her own decisions, because I guarantee you this is not an image any of us ever want to picture! And I didn't even choose an example with a father. I mean, can you even imagine that? Yeah, I rather not either.....
Nobody liked it when Woody Allen did it in real life regardless if he makes excellent movies, so why would I like to see it on my TV even if it's one of my favorite characters? Nope, Sesshomaru is amazing- and yes, nOt rEaL- but not even he gets a free pass here. Nobody should in any capacity or on ANY MEDIUM (fantasy, reality, etc.) be remotely allowed to get away with such a disgusting act even if it used to be tradition. And no, this isn't just some Western way of thinking. This is a 21st century way of thinking!
Recently, another user on here nicely pointed out to me that an adult can form loving relationships with children and it not be considered a parental one. At that moment, it was like a little light bulb went off in my head!!!! Yessss, this is so true and I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier!!
Because all that S*ssrin shippers like to repeat over and over again to us (as well as to themselves), is that Sesshomaru was not Rin's father. So fine, hypothetically speaking, let's say he isn't her adoptive father. That still doesn't take away from the truth that he was very much invested in the overall safety and well-being of this young girl. He contributed to her care even if it was just passing a message along to Jaken before taking off again. I was a teacher for a few years, and the love and affection I had for those children was real, even if I wasn't their parent and I didn't see them every day. That doesn't change the fact that I would've done absolutely anything in my power to keep them safe-- I would've even gone to the underworld and back!!! You know, kinda like that one character who was such a bad dad. 😉
So you see, you don't need to be the parent or even around all the time to love and care for a child. Bottom line is that Rin, Sesshomaru, Jaken, and Ah-Un are a FAMILY! Granted, they may be a little dysfunctional, but it's not like there's such a thing as the perfect family. They may be far from what a conventional family looks like too, but that doesn't make their family any less valid. Nothing or nobody can or should ever change that ❣

could you do a fic where jemma comes to grips with fitz's death? I saw spoilers that she is living in a sort of denial cause fitz still lives in the present.
Hey anon! Okay, so this one got away from me. The entire fic is below the cut, but I want to preface this by stating it gets really really really sad. You were warned. Hope you like it!
Jemma squeezed her eyes shut as they docked aboard the Chronicom vessel, their own ship groaning and jolting as it clung to the larger vessel. Around her, the team was getting their gear ready and preparing to face whatever awaited them aboard Enoch’s hidden ship. Although the eccentric Chronicom was friends with them from their standpoint, those events had occurred in a future that now never existed in the current timeline. Because of this, there was no telling what defenses or traps that lay ahead of them as they scoured the ship for Fitz.
Fitz.
Jemma kept her eyes closed for a moment longer, trying to will away the emotions that threatened to overtake her. He’s still alive, he’s still alive, he’s still alive, she kept repeating over and over as her heart clenched involuntarily. Beside her, Daisy placed a soft hand on her shoulder. Finally relenting, Jemma opened her eyes to see her friend looking at her with a mixture of sympathy and determination. In that moment, she looked like the bright-eyed hopeful hacker that Jemma first knew all those years ago.
“Hey.” The Inhuman said carefully. “We’re going to find him. We’re not leaving here until we do.” Jemma reached up and placed her hand over Daisy’s and smiled, though it felt forced and empty, like she was looking at the future she almost lost.
“I know.” She said, trying to bring all her own determination and will to the forefront. Off to the far right, Mack was loading rounds into his shotgun-axe and Piper was making sure the ship was fully docked. A surge of affection for each of them, the brave individuals who followed her without question to rescue one of their own. It was enough to make small tears form in the corners of her eyes, betraying the strength she was trying to portray. “Thank you.” Jemma said genuinely to Daisy.
Her friend grinned crookedly. “As if you could’ve stopped me. I’ve been shipping the two of you since day one. No way a silly thing like space is going to keep the two of you apart.” Images rushed unbidden into Jemma’s mind.
Fitz looking down at her from their position on the couch, her fingers interlaced with his and his eyes sparkling with that light that Jemma knew would always make her own heart skip a beat, decades into any future.
“Who needs space?” Fitz asks, grinning the way he always did when something clever popped into his head. “’Cause I’ve got something magnificent right here.”
Okay, maybe not so clever. Cheesy, even. But it made Jemma’s smile widen even more regardless, and caused her heart to beat quicker. She tilted her head slightly, taking in for a moment the incredible man she fell in love with. Both of them had gone through so much, and she was so very tired of wasting any more time. Leaning forward, Jemma’s eyes lowered to his lips and began to close her own when he instead pointed to something on the wall.
“A picture of space.” A slight beat and Jemma couldn’t help but let out a laugh, shaking her head at the ridiculous, beautiful man next to her. “One of my most prized possessions, that is. I don’t know why it makes any significance –mmph.” The rest of his words were muffled by Jemma’s laughter and her insistent lips pressed against his own. Breaths of contentment escaped both of them as they settled deeper into each other’s embrace.
Jemma snapped out of her memory to an aching in her chest, like someone had taken a piece of her heart and ripped it away. He’s alive, he’s alive, he’s alive, she repeated in her head, her own hopeful mantra. With great effort, Jemma managed to push the feelings down and smile convincingly to Daisy’s words. As she stood and gathered her supplies, Jemma could not help but wonder how long she could keep this up.
The vessel, as it turned out, did have a few rudimentary security systems in place. While Mack and Yo-Yo took out the small turrets that lined the entrance hall, Daisy had somehow managed to hack into the advanced alien ship. They discovered one life form on board, which they immediately knew to be Fitz. The weight on her chest seemed to lessen slightly as they made their way into the heart of the vessel. Due to the many situations they had by now faced together, the group stayed in tight formation and cleared each corner with a swiftness and effectiveness that would have made May proud. Silently, Jemma wished her and the ailing Coulson well on their beach in Tahiti and hoped they had enough time together. The grief at Coulson’s soon-to-be demise nearly caused her to momentarily lose her focus, but Daisy’s quick movement ahead snapped Jemma back to reality.
After a few more moments traversing the halls and getting their bearings, the team made its way to the bridge of the ship, stopping once for Mack to silently wave signals and direct their movement. Another few moments, and suddenly they were face-to-face with Enoch, who looked no different from the one they had known in the future, despite being over seventy years younger.
The Chronicom did not show fear, nor anger and his vessel being boarded. In fact, he seemed almost resigned to the fact and waited patiently for the team to clear the rest of the bridge. “You have succeeded, then?” He asked once they were finished.
They quickly recapped the dystopian future that they had just returned from, and all the consequences that their actions had created. Enoch did not show any emotion to the news that he sacrificed himself in the future, merely looked like a professor would when a student said something mildly interesting. Once they were finished, Daisy began scanning the monitors on the bridge. Jemma had begun doing so as soon as they entered, not even bothering to check the rest of the bridge for traps or greet the past version of Enoch. Her eyes poured over the data that sprang across the holographic screens.
“Agent Fitz is no longer with us.”
The words did not register with Jemma immediately. She still scoured the bridge’s screens and noted the data that stated one life form was aboard. After a few moments, the silence was deafening. Turning, she saw that the team was looking at her with simultaneous worry and pity. Anger began to well up inside of her, filling the hole that existed in her heart. He’s alive, he’s alive, he’s alive, she mentally recited, almost like a prayer.
“What do you mean, ‘no longer with us’?” She asked dangerously, causing even Enoch to look worried. At least, as worried as a Chronicom was capable of looking. “The scanners say one life form is aboard apart from us. Fitz is the only other person on this ship. You said that Chronicoms are made of a synthetic plastic alloy, which means you wouldn’t register on a bio scan.”
Enoch exchanged a meaningful glance with Daisy, who blinked away tears as she seemed to understand what was going on. “This is a Chronicom ship, Jemma.” She said, placing a hand on her forehead as the rest of the team seemed to almost wither, realizing their mistaken assumption. “Their scanners count members of their own kind. If only one life scan is showing it has to be Enoch, and only Enoch.” A pause. “Fitz isn’t here.”
No.
Jemma shook her head. “No.” Anger and grief poured out in equal measure, while her mind continued to convince her this was all some sort of twisted nightmare. “No, that is notpossible. Fitz is supposed to be here.”
Enoch appeared sad for the first time. “He was on board until a few weeks ago.” With a gesture, images of blurry invading forces appeared on the security feeds. “I was calibrating the vessel in the engine room when I heard the commotion. By the time I arrived back on the bridge, I saw a small ship make a jump into hyperspace and my own vessel was damaged. I have spent the last few weeks repairing the damage and was in the midst of installing a new security system when you arrived. The ease that your team avoided the larger security measures still troubles -”
He was cut off by Jemma stepping forward. “I don’t care about your bloodysecurity system. Where –“ She stopped. All the events of their last few weeks in the future rushed back, coupled with all the hell that the team had endured over the past few years. Maybe it was all a lie. Maybe he was still here, after all. Daisy had been wrong before, after all. The scanners might have been tampered with, Enoch could be lying to protect his charge from alterations to the timeline, or he may have stashed Fitz somewhere the invading group would not have looked. Hope burst forth in her chest, maddening in its fervor and desperate beyond belief.
“No.” She said firmly. “No.” Without a backwards glance, Jemma suddenly dashed from the bridge, ignoring the cries of warning from the team. She was intent on searching every single inch of this damned ship. Fitz had to be here. He simply had to. As she ran, images began flashing in her mind.
A smiling Fitz and his curly hair, hefting a heavy box filled with lab equipment as they made their way towards the enormous plane. Something stirred in Jemma’s being as she watched him gush over the possible technical specifications of such a vessel, suppressing a giggle as he nearly tripped over the runway that led down from its interior. His sniff of embarrassment gave only a slight pause before he resumed his long-winded excitement. She felt a surge of fondness for her best friend as they finally entered the – their, she had to remind herself – lab. Jemma was ecstatic to begin their time with the legendary Agent Coulson and his special team.
A sudden sharp turn caused her to nearly bounce off the opposing wall due to her speed as she could hear Daisy and Mack calling for her from somewhere in the distance.
The fear that he might become infected with her contracted Chitauri virus spurred Jemma on as she hefted the fire extinguisher. She would do anything, absolutely anything, to avoid him sharing her fate. If she had to die, so be it, but she would be damned if Fitz had to suffer for her mistake.
“I’m so sorry.” She breathed as the fire extinguisher hits the back of her friend’s head, leaving him sprawling on the lab floor. She was sorry not just for what she was about to do, but for all the times that she would miss with him. Suddenly, she was grateful she never acted on her little crush on Fitz; it would have made what she was about to do next to impossible. Placing the extinguisher on the counter, Jemma pressed the button to the lab door and made for the back of the plane…
Each room the looked in was empty. Instead of increasing the hopelessness, the empty rooms seemed to fan her desperation as she continued to traverse the vessel, wary of setting off any of Enoch’s other security measures. It would not do to be killed only seconds away from seeing Fitz again.
Fear engulfed her as she stood by Trip and Agent Hand. Coulson and the rest of the team had landed in the Playground and were beset on all sides by HYDRA agents. The idea of Fitz being caught in the middle of a firefight was one she was desperately trying not to imagine, while the thought of him possibly being a double agent never even crossed her mind. He was Fitz, after all. Loyal, sweet, innocent Fitz. He could no more hurt the team or betray her than she could. As soon as she was able and Agent Hand allowed, Jemma ran to her best friend, thankful that he was still with her.
Jemma’s breathing became ragged, the sound of her pounding steps echoing off the empty hall. The fact it was empty began to annoy her at each passing moment. Where was he? He’s alive, he’s alive, he’s alive, she repeated over and over as she continued on.
The shimmering light of the ocean danced on the wall behind him, almost capturing him in an ethereal light. Jemma, for the first time in a long while, could not form words as she replayed Fitz’s last statement. All she could do was reach out and hold him, trying to convey all the feeling she had for him into her touch. Jemma reached out and placed her hands on either side of his face, peppering him with kisses that seemed to become more and more desperate. While she was still unsure how she felt about his admission, Jemma knew deep down in her bones that she loved him, whether romantically or not. She loved him, and she did not want him to sacrifice himself for her.
“No,” She kept repeating, tears blurring her vision and choking her words. “No.” A final smile, and suddenly his hand shot downward faster than she could move.
As the water rushed in, all she could do was scream.
The sound of the team gaining on her position spurring Jemma on, not willing to be taken from her task. Fitz had to be here, he just had to be. The thought of coming all this way for nothing, only to be separated again, was unacceptable. She would notaccept that he was gone. Again.
Flashes of the year after the pod flooded in, the feelings of heartache and loneliness while undercover nearly overwhelming her. Jemma told herself it was the right thing, to separate herself from him so that he could recover properly. Still, a large part of her felt guilty for leaving him so suddenly. She had wanted to stay, to never leave his side again, but the facts were undisputable. As long as she remained, he would never get better. The realization that day, sitting at his hospital bed after the fourth week of therapy and him still unable to speak, had nearly hollowed out her spirit. They hadn’t been apart for this long since the Academy, and Jemma soon realized why. The world just…less without him. So she buried herself in her undercover work, hoping beyond hope that her sacrifice would mean Fitz would be well by the time she got back.
She was finally getting to the back of the ship where Enoch had said he was when the invading group struck. Fitz would have been fascinated by the design of the alien ship, but Jemma was less than impressed by it. All it seemed to be doing was keeping her from reuniting with him.
When she returned, things were worse than she could have ever imagined. Having Fitz unable to speak or remember her was one thing, but having him despise her was even worse. She told herself over and over the reasons why she left, but every interaction only made her doubt them even more. After months of cold indifference and increasing separation from her, Jemma was barely sleeping anymore. She had spent months making sense of what happened in the pod, and finally coming to grips with how she felt about him. Now, she was hesitant to show it, for fear of him thinking she was mocking him. It was madness, having these feelings unlocked and unable to do anything about it. Is this how Fitz felt all that time? Her heart fluttered every time he entered the room, and sank lower when he did not talk with her like they used to. None of it made sense, and she was not sure her emotions could take it. What horrible wrong had she committed in her life to make this be her fate?
Jemma paused in her frantic search, convinced now that she had already passed by this hallway. Frustration narrowed her vision, and she instead turned down a previously unknown hallway to the lower parts of the ship.
Slowly, over months and months, they managed to repair their friendship. It had taken far longer than she had ever anticipated, but Jemma was beyond happy that they were on good terms again. It felt like she could breathe again, and suddenly her days were not so morose. Then the bloody idiot decided he needed to be a hero again. After watching Hunter and Bobbi, Jemma knew that she had to say something. Anything. Keep him from going, if it came to it. She was determined, yet terrified that she might mess it up again. After initially stumbling over her words, Jemma finally was able to quietly voice the hope that seemed to soar in her chest. The look in Fitz’s eyes as he beheld her, vulnerable and clinging to his hand like he was a lifeline, was one of incredulity and…love. It was unmistakable, and she nearly sobbed in relief that it she hadn’t ruined them yet. The moment was shattered as Coulson entered and called Fitz away, leaving her alone once again and breathlessly worrying like she had for the past year.
When he finally returned, she was content to simply have him back. Their talk could wait until things returned to normal, and Jemma was determined not to rock the boat. Her surprise when he boldly asked her to dinner was almost palpable, but so was her joy. She watched as he awkwardly fiddled with the door to the obelisk, his nervousness making him all the more endearing and causing the corners of her lips to pull upward. The promise of a date made her spirit soar, and she couldn’t help a small but fierce grin when he left the room.
Then everything went black. Then blue.
The memories of Maveth nearly caused Jemma to pause, but she eventually continued on. Behind her, Daisy came into view and finally caught up with her.
“Jemma,” She said, panting. “Hold on, please.” Despite her drive forward, Jemma forced herself to pause.
“Don’t try to stop me, Daisy.” She said fiercely. “Fitz has to be here. He just has to.”
Her friend looked like she wanted to argue, but Jemma was genuinely surprised when the Inhuman nodded. “If you say he is, I believe you.” Tears of gratitude began to well up in Jemma’s eyes. “I’ve got your back.” Jemma did not know what to say.
Daisy wiggled her eyebrows playfully. “Well, what are we waiting for? Lets go get him.” With that, the pair continued on down the increasingly dark hallway.
Memories continued to fly unbidden into Jemma’s mind.
Endless nights trapped on that hellish planet. Losing all hope. Being forced to live each day with the fear of dying away from him, away from the team, was nearly the end of her. Jemma recounted the horrible day when she could no longer look at their pictures in her phone, and the realization that maybe, this time, there was no rescue. But we’re going to dinner, she kept thinking. The promise kept her pushing forward for weeks, but eventually the weight of the situation and the lack of any hope settled in. It was the first and only time she truly gave up. Memories of her mistakes and nightmares nearly clouded her judgement.
When that flare shot over the desolate blue horizon, Jemma almost felt reborn. Hope exploded within her, and soon she found herself struggling against he harsh winds to find the hand of the man who refused to give up on her. Who would always find her. When she was finally on Earth again, the joy of being home with him was only surpassed by the guilt and the debt she felt towards the man she left behind on Maveth. And Fitz, bless him, took all of it without complaint, which she soon found to be incredibly annoying. How can he be fine with this? That she felt love for another man? That he wanted to help her retrieve him potentially at the cost of the world’s safety?
She soon discovered that he was equally as frustrated, culminating in the first of what she had then hoped would be many more kisses. As fierce as it was tender, Jemma wonder how in the world they had gone without doing that for all these years. His remark that they were cursed cut her to the bone, reminding her that despite her insistence that destiny was a false construct, their lives had been nothing but obstacles in the way of happiness. After seeing another round of horrors, it seemed to them pointless to avoid feeling what they felt towards one another. The memories of their first night together brought heat to Jemma’s cheeks. They had crossed the event horizon. If they were going to suffer, they would do it together. If they were going to fight the good fight, they were going to do it together. Nothing would stand in their way again.
Together, Jemma and Daisy made quick work of the halls and the rooms within them. Very soon, the pair encountered a locked door that led to where Daisy stated was the cargo hold. If Fitz was anywhere aboard the ship, he would be inside here. Jemma waiting anxiously as her friend manually attempted to hack the door.
Flashes of AIDA and the Framework flitted around in Jemma’s mind, conjuring up feelings of desperation and fear. The simulated world had been one of Jemma’s worst nightmares, watching the man she loved become something she could barely recognize. In her darkest moments, the feeling of that cold gun pressed to her head still makes her heart clench in fear. Fitz’s expressionless eyes pouring into her own as he demands she state she never loved him. Her squared jaw as she denies him this excuse to kill her, instead stating plainly that she loved him, as if it were the secret to the universe, to life itself. Hearing that she meant nothing to him in return was akin to experiencing all the months after HYDRA and Maveth in one heart-shattering moment.
In the aftermath of the Framework, the two of them leaned on each other to recover and to make sense of what had happened. Having the Doctor’s personality within him was something that traumatized Fitz and what caused him to doubt whether or not Jemma should truly love him at all. She tried to assuage such thoughts with a touch or a reassuring word, but nothing seemed to be good enough. When he was kidnapped by AIDA and finally voiced that he was irrevocably in love with Jemma, her heart only then began to truly heal. They resolved to work through their experiences together, and Jemma could still remember the feeling of his hand caressing her back as they sat in that diner.
With a jolt, Jemma watched as the door slid open to reveal a dark and foreboding-looking room. He’s alive, he’s alive, he’s alive, she continued to say.
“Jemma,” Daisy started, but as soon as she spoke the lights came on, illuminating the space.
Months of captivity and servitude to Kasius was degrading enough without acknowledging the pit in her stomach that always seemed to form when Fitz was not there. As far as she knew, he was trapped in the past and had already lived out the rest of his life without her. The thought was almost unbearable to consider, and lived as a silent behemoth in the back of her head whenever she thought of him during her captivity. When she turned the corner to see him that day, sauntering over and staring at her like he had the day they first kissed, Jemma’s world halted and suddenly things were hopeful again. They escaped together, defeated their enemies, and even managed to return to the present, all while remaining together.
Jemma had originally envisioned being married in a small church with her family and close friends, somewhere in the rolling countryside of England. From there, they would move to their cottage in Perthshire, where their lives would remain peaceful and free from any world-shattering danger. Being married in a forest dimension within a secret underground bunker was definitely not the wedding she had envisioned, but it was still everything that she had ever wanted.
Jemma blinked as she adjusted to the light.
“I think that you’re perfect.” Fitz almost breathed as they held hands, his eyes shining. “And um, I don’t deserve you, Jemma. I don’t.” He reiterated as she cocked her head to the side in smiling disagreement. “I don’t deserve you. And I’m well aware that I am the luckiest man on any planet.” More sniffles from Jemma and the others as Coulson gave the two of them their rings.
“Quickly please, before this forest collapses around us.” Chuckles echoed throughout the smiling crowd. Coulson paused, and looked incredibly proud. “Okay, Fitz, repeat after me. ‘With this ring’-“
Fitz reverently slid the ring over her finger. Jemma’s smile widened as she beheld it and gripped his other hand tighter. “With this ring-“ Fitz repeated, looking at her with the stars in his eyes.
“I thee wed.” Coulson finished.
“I thee wed.” Fitz repeated. Jemma swallowed the lump in her throat as she repeated the same, sliding the ring onto his finger and watching as he let out a breath.
Jemma could hear Daisy sniffing and saw Mack grinning as he filmed the event. Coulson looked at the two of them proudly as he stated, “Now by the powers vested in me by…well, by the two of you, I am so happy to pronounce you husband and wife.” A pause. “You may kiss the bride.” Jemma’s lips found Fitz’s and the sounds of her friends – no, her family- cheering filled her ears as they parted. Grinning blissfully like the two idiots in love they were, Jemma could not remember in that moment when she had been happier.
Blood was everywhere.
The few pieces of cargo in the ship were tossed and on their side, while the cryo chamber that Fitz had clearly been in was smeared with a mixture of red blood and some green liquid. Two hand-shaped bloody smear marks led away from the pod, as if someone had been badly wounded and then was pulled forcefully from the room. Beside her, Daisy staggered backward in horror at the sight until she hit the wall, covering her mouth. Behind her, the team had finally caught up with them and their gasps could be heard alongside Daisy’s.
Jemma couldn’t breathe.
He was gone. Fitz was gone. He was taken and, judging by the amount of blood in the room, was badly wounded. By the look of it, he gave whatever group that took him a good fight before finally being dragged off. Slowly, Jemma walked up to the pod that had until recently contained the love of her life. Placing a hand on the exterior, she saw that the bloodstains originated from within the pod and seemed to even be on the inside of the window. The reality of the situation seemed to hit her all at once, knocking Jemma to her knees. Hot tears began falling unbidden from her eyes, which were now screwed shut in frustration and grief.
Jemma heard what Mack said, but did not quite believe it. It wasn’t possible, she reasoned. He had promised to always be with her, no matter what. They had survived space, time travel, alien invasions, and countless other obstacles. Death was the least challenging thing they had encountered, and it seemed oddly small compared to their experiences. The possibility of having to live without Fitz for the rest of her life seemed to envelop her and drag her down into the abyss. He couldn’t be gone, she reasoned. If anyone was going to kill him, it would be Jemma if he kept her waiting any longer. For a few moments, she held her breath, half-expecting him to walk in the room after Mack’s silent departure. When he didn’t saunter in with that smile or the stars in his eyes, Jemma was forced to consider that maybe…
Wait.
Time travel. The team had time travelled to the future. Fitz had to follow them the only way that he could without the aid of a monolith; suspended animation. That meant that somewhere in the present time, there was a version of him before his arrival in the future. Not dead. Still alive.
Her Fitz.
The thought propelled her forward, suppressing the grief and anger that threatened to overtake her. He’s still alive, she told herself. There was nothing to be worried about; they would find him and everything will be okay again. As plans began to form in her mind, Jemma kept the darkness from overtaking her by reciting the same words like a chant, like a prayer of some dark recess of her heart. He’s still alive, he’s still alive, he’s still alive, Jemma continued to think, pushing her feelings ever deeper.
For the first time in weeks, her mantra did not save her. Grief overtook Jemma like a strong wind, bearing her ever forward toward the realm of despair. All the fear and sadness that she had been suppressing over the past few weeks seemed to rush in at once. Yet despite this realization Jemma knew one thing.
She would find Fitz again. If there was one thing the universe had shown them, it was that no matter how far apart they were or how many dangers lay between them, nothing could stop them indefinitely.
They would always find each other.

Vega is obviously sub tho, with his behaviour around Priya... she legit emanated big dom energy during those 20s scenes
Hello, anon! First of all, I am so happy that you actually messaged me instead of just... never responding ever. 😂
So, Priya is kinda an obvious dom, which already can be seen by the way she treats her houseboys. No arguing here, at least not from my part, even though I can def imagine Priya as a sadomasochist, meaning she doesn’t only enjoy causing pain, but also receiving it. Anyway, that’s a different topic. 😅
My point is... There is no way Vega is a sub. NO. WAY. Not with her, not with anyone. (Even though I can imagine them switching it up since they’re both huge doms.)
Your way of supporting your claim is naming the 20s scenes as examples. Honestly, I’m very willing to analyze them. And I’m happy to do this, because Priya x Adam (Pradam, hehe) is def my OTP and I’m glad to be discussing this with you.
Beforehand I gotta say: I take this very seriously, so don’t be shocked about me dropping a huge ass analysis, lmao. This is a lot of interpretation, and I know it’s very vague, but you mentioned the 20s scenes and this is the info I got out of them, so here we go:
1920s Scene 1, Chapter 13:
“The door swings open, and Vega steps into the warehouse with Priya, his arm wrapped around her waist.”
I’ve done a bit of research on this (I just love them this much), and him having his arm around wrapped around her waist doesn’t only (or at least, most likely) mean boyfriend/girlfrend, it’s also a way of him protecting her, having her close. It’s a way of saying “She’s mine”.
That fits Vega very well, since having his arm around her waist is the closest he gets to being “in control” over her. I mean, they could have held hands as well, but that’d be more romantic, which definitely doesn’t fit the relationship as much. Generally, he’s very possessive. He definitely considered her “his”.
Then, Vega greats Kamilah and Adrian. Note how Priya hasn’t said a single word yet. She’s being in the background, waiting for Adam to take the offensive and introduce her. That, he does when Kamilah asks him who his companion is.
“This lovely creature is Priya Lacroix.”
Notice how he says “creature”? This made me wonder a lot when I first thought about it. Like, why the hell doesn’t he just say “lady” or “woman” or whatever? “Creature” sounds so submissive. It’s usually said by humans to other humans who look or behave extremely odd to the point that their humanity is being questioned. So, why would he call her that?
Then, it hit me. When Priya meets MC for the first time in Chapter 2, the first thing she calls her is... “creature”. The fact of Priya using this to describe her prey clearly proves that it’s a submissive term. Google defines a “creature” either as an animal, or as “a person or organization considered to be under the complete control of another.” Who loves and craves control? Adam. Interesting...
Priya’s response is a happy “Hiya, doll” (to Kamilah), so she obviously accepts this and isn’t surprised or whatever.
Furthermore, there are two ways of Vega keeping Priya “in place”, regarding the whole Gaius situation. Firstly, Kamilah asks why Vega brought her to their meeting, and she says...
“Not to worry. I know my onions.”
This means that Vega has educated Priya beforehand about the whole situation. Gaius, the others, everything. He told her, because he trusted her, which is super cute, and because he would never want Priya to act out of line, especially not in that scene. This is a matter of control. Over her.
That’s supported when Priya asks Kamilah for a cigarette using slang language, which Kamilah has expressed a lack of understanding of. Before she can even react to Priya’s ask, Vega tells her...
“No need to bother Kamilah, doll. I have some.”
Even the act of giving her a cigarette is a form of control. “Don’t bother Kamilah, I have some, so you can’t potentially act up” is a hard way of saying this, but if you think about it, it is what he’s thinking at the back of his mind, consciously or not. This doesn’t mean he didn’t love her, but he definitely controlled her at least in some way, so she would behave, be in no way able to offend Kamilah.
“Vega pulls out a gold cigarette case. He hands a cigarette to Priya and lights it with a match.”
This here is a tiny example of him being a control freak, by not letting her light the cigarette herself. Of course, it’s minimal at best. He’s also a gent, so, yeah. (A bigger one would be his reaction to the Ferals fighting Adrian where even Nicole told him to chill.)
Anyway, later, they talked about their party which isn’t a hint in my opinion, but does make me wonder what kinda party it was. She uses the word “blow”, meaning a party that is wild and crazy, and he says that “the party won’t wait for” them. They’re both grinning... Orgy? 😅😅😂
Regardless, Adam meets the peak of his dominance regarding Priya when she doesn’t bow down to Gaius and asks who he is. For the first time, Adam gets angry. He says...
“I apologize, Gaius. Priya here is new to the Continent and doesn’t yet know the lay of the land.”
He doesn’t let her speak or apologize herself, by speaking for her, about her. He takes everything regarding her into his own hands, the whole time. You’re talking to Priya? Well, you’re talking to Adam, too, automatically. He just makes it his business. The whole situation is new to her, yes, but you can’t deny that Vega takes full control. Especially here:
“Vega nudges Priya with his elbow, hard.”
Vega goes rough on Priya, huh? 😌 Well, quite obviously he has no problems with doing just that to make sure that she acts accordingly, the way he wants her to. I love how they added “hard”. He isn’t the gentle type, knowing she can take it. 😌😂
Priya’s reaction supports just that. She’s not debating him or anything - maybe she has learned not to already? Damn - but lets out a surprised “Oh!” and an immediate bow to meet both the needs of Gaius and Adam without hesitation.
Now, imagine she would have debated him on it. There is no way he wouldn’t have shown her “her place”. Wanting to protect her is the whole reason, of course. I’m not saying he didn’t love her, just that he’s def displaying dominance (over her). 🌚
After Gaius reveals his full plan, everyone is shocked, and I love the mental image of this:
“Priya looks up at Vega, eyes wide.”
Isn’t this totally cute? Her looking at him for comfort and reassurance when she’s unnerved, afraid, insecure? Him being her rock, at least for that moment? Doesn’t that make her a small bit dependent, too? In a way, he’s responsible for this, he brought her into the situation. She trusted him with this, let him lead, guide her. Which he did, throughout the whole meeting.
All in all, regarding this scene, I have not found a single situation of Priya displaying any sort of dom vibes over him, and wonder what you’re referring to? For me, it was the opposite. I mean, of course she’s Priya and generally hella dom, but here she’s “hiding” a bit behind Vega, unconsciously or not.
Regardless, he manouvers her through it. He’s in control the whole time, and unafraid to rebuke her roughly. He wanted her to act a certain way and expected that of her, not to disappoint him and do what he had told her before the meeting (explaining Gaius, etc.). Which brings me to my conclusion: Vega. Is. Dom.
1920s Scene 2, Chapter 16:
Sadly, we didn’t get as many hints here since the scene is mainly displaying the fight.
Firstly, they start off talking and a situation happens which makes me able to refer back to what I said about Adam immediately including himself when someone speaks to Priya.
Here, it’s Lester, reminding her angrily that her complaining regarding the waiting time isn’t helping. Adam makes this his business, taking control, by defending her and saying...
“We are all a little tense, Lester. Leave her be.”
Obviously, he doesn’t let her handle this herself even though she would have been able to defend herself. It’s a way of lovingly protecting her, which I find adorable, but also not hiding behind her or anything. “Leave my girl alone or else...” That is so dominant.
When Gaius asks them if they agree that his plan is bs, it’s a rare moment of Adam letting Priya speak for herself after he himself has voiced his opinion.
The absolute cutest moment is obviously him screaming at Gaius “Get away from her!” when he is choking her. (Only Adam is allowed to choke Priya. 😌😌😉😏)
Even before, he kept his focus on her during the fight, screaming “Priya, look out!” when Gaius gets her, and in the end even risking his life by attacking him.
How cute is that? 😭😭😍😍
Lastly, Adrian gives an order and “the others start to obey, but Vega pauses”. Unlike Priya, bae takes no orders. 💅
Analysis over. 😂
Like I said, there’s no way he’s a sub. It contradicts itself with his entire persona. His need of power was his fall. There is no way he’d give that power and control he craves away to someone else, in no aspect of life. Also, remember she’s a vampire way weaker than him, and was only 50+ while he was 200+.
I imagine they were rough on each other. She’s so dangerous, but not to him. He liked her to “show him what she can do”, but found her cute in the same way. Like, this kinda “She’s so cute when she kills people” thing. This reminds me of an NSFW Alphabet I made for them, in case you wanna check it out. 😂
I hope my analysis kinda supported my claim, even though I know some points are weak, because there’s a lot of interpreting going on. (If you even made it this far, lmao.) Maybe we could continue our conversation via chat, exchange some headcanons? I’d def be down, and thanks for the message. 🤗

Hey there, it's the same anon who asked about Slit's love for lizards! Your headcanons were so so cool, I'd love to see more from you! I love the description of how Slit supports his male lizard buddies when they're attempting to present for a female lizard and eventually mate. This mental image made me think, though: if Slit were trying to impress someone, how would he act/what would he do? Once again, your headcanons kicked butt! Thanks so much! :D
I am thrilled you enjoy my ramblings of the crazed Lizard King! So thrilled in fact that I will take this as another opportunity to spew my headcanon thought-gush all over the place!
How does Slit impress someone??? Why, he does pushups of course! Well, maybe not pushups exactly, but regardless of his intentions, whether he’s trying to impress, flirt, or intimidate, it usually involves some display of Slit’s physical prowess. War Boys are all about physical strength and domination, to the point of toxicity, and Slit is no exception, in fact he may very well be the epitome, or something close to it. Nothing Slit does is ever without a little aggression. He is an ever-changing ratio of temptation and aggravation, and it fluctuates with his mood as much as with his environment.
This got a little long. Under the cut is a bunch (like, seriously a lot) of paragraphs of my attempts to study the bizarre social habits of the Lizard King in his natural habitat:
So Slit wants to impress somebody? Maybe that one Imperator whose crew gets all the good privileges? He’ll showcase his skills like an anole showcasing his bright red dewlap, wooing the Imperator and warding off the other War Boys with the best of his abilities to prove his worth. Like a big flashing advertisement from Before, Slit conveys his message through interpretive dance body language “Look at this! You want this! You need this! My skills are useful, LOOK! LOOK! LOOK!”, while at the same time the back of the billboard of Slit is like “Challenge at your own risk. You know you don’t want to mess with this. Messing with this will mess you up. It will make me look better. I want you to mess with me, so I can make you look worse. Do it you fucker! Make my day! FITE ME!”
Now say some other War Boy is stepping on Slit’s turf, sittin on his rock, climbing on his (lancer’s) perch? A challenger approaches! I’m sure we all remember what went down between Slit and Nux when Slit tried to step on Nux’s turf by taking his wheel. All that head bumping and growling? That was pure Slit. That was Slit’s threat display. Now, granted it didn’t work on Nux, and Slit stopped there for REASONS, but I like to imagine Slit does this to other War Boys as well, and if they hold their ground unflinchingly like Nux (which I doubt they would cuz Nux saw it coming and they probably don’t and that shit’s scary he is big and fighty), then Slit would probably escalate the situation into a full blown brawl right there and right then. At that point the victor is whoever comes out on top. Slit is big, strong, healthy, and mean, so he’s got a lot of good things going for him, but fights can be very unpredictable. These fights probably fuel someone’s gambling addiction.
Alright, so now Slit’s tryin’ ta woo somebody? Well, what kind of somebody? Doesn’t really matter to Slit right then. Unless he’s got some seriously significant motivation he’d most likely approach this sort of thing the same way he does with everything else. Hissing, growling, intense eye contact, and lots of flexing. He probably puts a lil something extra in the hips when he moves, sways a lil more, struts a lil more, banking off of what he’s best at like he would when he tries to impress an Imperator. He is an efficient, powerful machine. His billboard is now promoting a sports car to an insecure middle-aged man going through a mid-life crisis with money to spare. “You would love to get with this. Getting with this will make you look good. It will be great. You will be great, because I am great.” He might even move a little slower than he normally would, to give the object of his “affections” the chance to admire his physique, linger a little bit, like a flashy slo-mo reel of that sleek sexy sports car driving through rain in the middle of nowhere—mmm car metaphors…
All that being said, there’s probably a lot of mixed signals, misunderstandings, miscommunications… Slit’s display is equal parts a show and a warning. He’s coming for someone, he is going to get very, very physical, and they don’t always know why. A lot can go wrong. “Is he tryin’ to start somethin’? He’s tryin’ to start somethin’ isn’t he?” Slit is always DTF, be it fuck or fight. It is either one or the other, the odds are 50/50 and they’ve just used their last Before coin as shrapnel for a thunderstick. Someone might end up getting punched—probably Slit, but I cannot imagine a lil tap in the jaw would be enough to turn him off, given that he is a Nasty Lizard who just won’t quit. His off switch is dysfunctional. It is equally possible that a tap in the jaw would turn him on more. Communication is probably severely lacking among War Boys. It will take several more “taps” for Slit to get the message and back off, but I’m sure the recipient of Slit’s wooing will have probably caught on to his intentions by then and decided whether they want the wooing or not. If it is someone familiar with Slit, they will most likely catch on much sooner and (hopefully) have a technique to deter him. Nasty Lizard.
Now, clearly Slit’s sexy lil billboard is aimed at War Boys in the above scenario. They like cars, that’s why I used a car metaphor, I am a literary genius I know, bask in my glory yes har har har, I am secretly a fool. But, back to the topic at hand. This advertisement strategy won’t work on other target audiences like, shall we say, a woman recently freed from an oppressive sexually abusive tyrant, single and not all that ready to mingle, who is probably very not okay with large lizards climbing on top of them and hissing, take that for what you will.
Now, depending on if all things go as right as they possibly can in this scenario, Slit is committed to a long haul wooing and subsequent relationship with aforementioned lady, Slit must change his marketing strategy to appeal to this new audience. The benefits of this are similar to impressing an Imperator, extra privileges go to the ones on their crew but these privileges are extra, extra good, so it’s kinda like Imperators with Benefits which I’m sure Slit would be All For, and it’s probably worth rolling over for someone softer than he is.
Unfortunately this is very not easy for Slit who likes being big and bad and scary and mean. But the power of love lust must prevail! Slit cannot resist showcasing his “assets”, again he must bank on his physicality, but he must do a different sort of display, appeal to what this new target audience wants.
He is very strong and healthy. Why does she not like that? That can’t be right. Maybe he is too scary? (a very conflicting sentiment for Slit). But what if he was only scary to other people and not her? She doesn’t like it when War Boys approach her, so maybe he should stop them from approaching her because he is so scary! Yes! Genius! Such a smart lizard! Look at that impressive dewlap! The sleek sports car becomes a dependable minivan with plenty of trunk space, seats, and a heavily armored, reinforced chassis with spikes to ward of potential threats!
“Look at this!” the billboard of Slit proclaims! “Getting with this will stop anyone else from getting with you! Still not good enough? Well, getting with this will also stop other people from getting with your friends too! Now comes with a bonus feature of messing people up so you don’t have to, and I’ll throw in this complimentary knife so you can gut me if you are displeased with the product and want a refund!” If that doesn’t work, Slit is doomed to extensive, tedious, invasive, possibly painful character development, which I know we all love.
Disclaimer: these headcanons do not apply to everything. Alternate headcanons that emphasize different aspects of the Lizard King are equally valid and some will not support these musings. Things like these and differing character development can easily change the headcanons I have made, and I am totes magotes okay with that and Down To Explore alternate variations of Slit, and I used ‘totes magotes’ completely unironically because that is how passionate I am about this.

If I have 3 symptoms of szpd and 4 of stpd, which means I don't meet the minimum but I still have the symptoms, am I diagnosed with something? Would that be a mixed PD?
Hey, thanks for the question!
(Usual disclaimer of: as we’re just strangers on the internet we can’t really tell you anything about what you specifically would be diagnosed with/ what would be an accurate diagnosis for you/whether you should be diagnosed with something, given we know nothing about you/your symptoms personally, are not professionals, etc. So any information I give is very general and may not necessarily apply to your situation or for all people in all scenarios and etc.)
But, broadly speaking, I think it’s the case that if someone meets the criteria for a general personality disorder* (like has symptoms severe enough that they impact their life, has noticeable functioning difficulties or distress, their pattern of behavior generally follows what kind of is encompassed in the concept of a ‘personality disorder’, etc.) and like meets multiple criteria of some PDs but doesn’t meet the full criteria for any one specific PD, they can still usually be given some sort of diagnosis.
(*below is example of PD features characteristic of the nature of personality disorders in general from the criteria (for PD in general, not a specific one))-
Here (image below), the category for what you’re talking about seems to be ‘other specified personality disorder and unspecified personality disorder’, though I have seen a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder not otherwise specified’ and heard people refer to other names, but I don’t see that in the section on PDs in the DSM so maybe there’s some terms they used to use and now don’t use anymore or etc etc. Anyway, it seems there is a diagnosis for it regardless of specific terminology -
(the difference between ‘other specified PD’ and ‘unspecified PD’ seems to just be like, whether the person diagnosing you provides additional information or not (like if they specify what traits you have or if they leave it vague))
But anyway, yeah, even if someone doesn’t meet the exact criteria for a PD, as long as they’re experiencing general symptoms (distress, functioning issues, etc.) in line with a PD that are not attributable to another mental disorder or etc. then they can still be given a diagnosis of some kind, which would probably be ‘other specified personality disorder’ (in the case that you have traits of a few things but don’t meet any criteria fully).
Hopefully this helped! Sorry for so many photos, I know it can make the layout look messy but screencapping text is much easier than retyping it all by hand so I try to just do that when appropriate. There’s additional info on StPD and SzPD and diagnosis and other relevant things in our resources page here (link), so maybe that could also help if you need any additional information. Feel free to ask any other questions if I said anything confusing or etc. Have a great day, anon! - Luca

Hi so ive been wondering something and you seem to be very willing to inform people on issue of people of colour, if this is by any means offensive you dont have to answer this nd i apologise. I would like to know if there some sort of racism amoung african-american people themselves? It might be rare but do lightskinned african-americans look down on dark skinned sometimes? Again i might sound incredibly ignorant but where i live there are very few people of colour so i have no idea.
Hi Anon. I’m going to let a really great article I read by Jaleel Campbell answer your question. I hope it helps.
Dark Skin Vs: Light Skin: The Battle of Colorism In The Black Community
In many different cultures and countries around the world, skin color plays a huge role in the concept of beauty. Lighter skin is often preferable to darker skin. The effects of the African American self-hate toward each other because of one’s skin color is rather eye opening and sad, to say the least. This is a very hot and taboo subject among the African American community. As a culture that came from years of oppression and hatred inflicted by slave owners, forced to think that because of their color, they were inferior, blacks have somehow reverted back to having this sort of mindset which is, in fact, hurting them as a whole. With no thanks to the media and its influence on what is seen as beautiful, Black America is tearing itself apart when it focuses on such a shallow aspect of a person that they can’t control. What a person makes of themselves and all of their aspirations should be what they’re judged on - not their skin color. African Americans should stop using skin color to discriminate against each other because it hinders the progression of the entire black community.
Frequent sightings of dark skinned people portrayed negatively in the media is heavily exploited, while light skinned and non-black individuals are portrayed more positively. These kind of prejudgements negatively impact the African American community and prevents the culture from moving forward. Hundreds of years after slavery, the actions of several people in the black community still show that the culture, as a whole, needs to stop and think about the negative connotations they are associating themselves with. Sometimes people make statements such as, "You're pretty for someone who's dark-skinned " or "pretty for a black girl". Phrases such as the ones above are in no shape or form, a compliment. When someone says the above statement they are implying that because of a darker persons complexion, they’re automatically supposed to be ugly. Subtle jabs like this can take their toll on the self esteem of a person.
Growing up as a child in a place where being ridiculed and made fun of because your skin is of a darker complexion is one thing that most Americans couldn’t even imagine. In an interview with Essence Magazine, actress Viola Davis discusses how, as a child, she too felt the pain of being called an assortment of derogatory terms and shares how after a while, she began to believe that she in fact, was ugly (essence.com). Imagine seeing a little girl who had all of her self confidence ripped from her before she entered the 6th grade. That was the norm for Davis back during her childhood. According to the author of “Exploring the Impact of Skin Tone on Family Dynamics and Race-Related Outcomes,” Evidence suggests that racial socialization helps foster the adjustment of children in the face of race-related adversity and serves to protect youth from negative mental health consequences (Hughes, 2006). What many people fail to realize is that children are still developing and in prepubescent kids especially, criticism such as being called ugly and being told you will amount to nothing, can have a substantial effect on the sanity of someone so young. That child is left with that idea stuck in the back of their head throughout life and this idea can be the base of all of the future problems the person has with their self image as an adult.
The Clark Doll Experiment, administered by Kenneth and Mamie Clark, was an experiment that dealt with race and how children perceive it at a young age. The results that came from it were indeed astonishing yet, heartbreaking to say the least.
In the experiment Clark showed black children between the ages of six and nine two dolls, one white and one black, and then asked these questions in this order:
“Show me the doll that you like best or that you’d like to play with,”
“Show me the doll that is the ‘nice’ doll,”
“Show me the doll that looks ‘bad’,”
“Give me the doll that looks like a white child,”
“Give me the doll that looks like a coloured child,”
“Give me the doll that looks like a Negro child,”
“Give me the doll that looks like you.”
The questionnaire concluded with 44 percent of the black children choosing the white doll as being the doll that looked like them. This study gained a lot of attention because of the fact that young black children were disassociating themselves with their true race. A question that the case leaves lingering in the air is “what made the children choose the white doll instead of the one that was more close to them?”
In American culture, whiteness and more of a European "look" is considered the norm, and as a result, blackness is associated with lesser status. When looking at some celebrities, for instance Nicki Minaj, there has been a drastic change to her appearance since she first came on to the scene. As her popularity arose, she began to seem more increasingly "light". It is clear to the reader that she has altered her appearance. Now why is this you ask? Predictions can be made that in order for her to move up the ladder in the music world, she had to gain crossover appeal by changing her appearance to fit the pop demographic that her managers wanted her to meet. Although she may not agree with some of the ideas her team are putting together to make up her image, it has since propelled her to superstardom.
Even today, some people who are lighter-skinned consider themselves superior to (and more attractive than) darker-skinned Americans. Filmmaker, Spike Lee, commented on this problem in the movie School Daze, where he exposed the problems between light and dark skinned individuals attending a historically black college. One famous scene from the movie involves two groups of women, one group light skinned, and the other dark skinned, as they argue in a hair salon about which group has good hair. Both groups of women use many derogatory words to describe each which shows how ignorance is still apparent even within one’s own race. Because of such ignorance, the movie received a lot of criticism after its premiere. Before Lee shed light on the subject, it was a topic that was swept under the table but because of his influence, the problem was brought to national attention.
A 2006, University of Georgia study showed that employers prefer light skinned black men to dark skinned men, regardless of their qualifications. They found that a "light-skinned male could have only a Bachelor’s degree and typical work experience and still be preferred over a dark-skinned male with an MBA and past managerial positions"(Harrison 2006). On the other hand, however, in the corporate world, it is assumed that ”relative to their lighter-skinned counterparts, darker skinned Blacks have lower levels of education, income, and job status” (Turner 1995). Since this stereotype is in place, “Corporate America” can be seen as nothing more than an imagination in the eyes of a dark person, as if they know that the job wouldn’t be inviting to people such as them. So how did black culture become so infused with self hatred? Dark skinned slaves working in the field hated the light skin slaves working in the master's house because of the fact that he chose to “spoil” their lighter counterparts. According to “Brotherman: The Odyssey of Black Men in America - an Anthology,” One of the most popular methods of teaching this divisive behavior was created by Willie Lynch, a British slave owner in the West Indies, who came to United States to advise American slave owners how to keep their slaves restrained. The darker slaves were forced to work in the fields and received no privileges. This is what began the division within the black community. As history shows, although light skinned blacks were of a higher rank than their black counterparts, they still received scraps at the end of the day (Boyd). This idea is still intact to this day when lighter skinned individuals seem to feel more inferior to darker toned people, but when you ask a Caucasian, or anyone outside of the African American race, what the light skinned individuals would be listed under its always the same response. Black. After slavery, educational institutions, clubs and other activities were reserved only for light skinned black people. In some instances, only those who were lighter than a brown paper bag (paper bag test) would be considered light enough to attend a college or an exclusive club (Boyd).
Sometimes magazines will lighten the skin of black women, just as L'oreal lightened Beyonce's Skin in a controversial makeup ad that made her appear as if she were, indeed, white. The idea of a more eurocentric look comes in to play again as we dig more into America’s perception of western beauty. Characteristics of Eurocentric beauty include: white skin, a narrow nose, blonde or brown long straight hair, and thin lips. For some reason, if you don’t fulfill these beauty standards, you are considered to be less attractive. Many questions can be raised because of this; who’s the decider of what qualifies as beautiful? As cliched as it may sound, beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder, despite what some people may think.
For some, the views and the opinions of others are too much to bare and consider procedures and different cosmetic products as a way to achieve the ever popular “eurocentric” look that they aspire to have. Although this may sound fine and dandy, the procedures and products bring more risks than they do good. Skin bleaching creams have become hot commodity in the black market beauty world. In a world where the only thing that is seen as beautiful is light skin, can others be to blame for the society that they are a product of? These toxic creams strip the skin of its melanin. Although the person achieves the look they intended to reach, their skin is now weak because of the components said products are composed of. On the other hand, everyone is entitled to self happiness, but the real question is are they ready to face all of the possible repercussions of skin bleaching? That is left for the person to decide.
This is a topic that won’t ever die because people refuse to stop being ignorant, which is evident by Twitter hashtags like #teamlightskin or #teamdarkskin, where people feud and try to prove who’s better based on skin color. Even when various YouTube searches on the topic are pulled up, thousands of results of people - some who try to diffuse the topic, while others add their foolish input. The fact that this topic still remains relevant is ridiculous.
According to “The Skin Color Paradox and the American Racial Order,” Dark-skin discrimination occurs within as well as across races (Turner). This idea is known to be true in an assortment of different cultures, most notably in the caste system set in India. The caste system is in place to form a structured society for the people of India based on one’s skin color. The lighter a person is, the more power that person holds, while the darker they are makes them more prone to living a harder life. Although life shouldn’t be that way for any human being, the darker toned Indians, often called the “untouchables,” are subject to hard labor throughout their lives.
To conclude, in many different cultures and countries around the world, skin color plays a huge role in the concept of beauty. Although light skin may be more preferable, those with darker skin still find their way in society. No matter what adversity they may have faced getting there, they eventually find solace in knowing that they’re on a road to success. The African American community must join together to show that they are more than just a skin, they are people. Although this may be a rather taboo subject, it needs to be brought to the forefront so it can finally be put to rest. The culture must move past those years of oppression and look to the future and what it has to offer. If the culture continues it current ways, then the oppression will always be there; the cycle must stop and the time has been long overdue. Even though the media has made steps in the right direction to show darker African Americans in a better light, the process must be stepped up a couple of notches to get real results. To reiterate, the color of the skin that you were born with should be just that. What a person makes of themselves and all of their aspirations should be what they’re judged on, not their skin color. It doesn’t matter where an African American falls on the spectrum of color because at the end of the day, they’re still black.

Ugh, I'm tired of my blogs disappearing from the tags! So I'm copying and pasting my answer to this ask I received and posting it again with a few tweaks! The ask reads:
"I've seen so many shippers say that sesshomaru would be such a terrible parent because he didn’t give her shoes or didn’t prevent her death and that’s why it’s not a father-daughter relationship. Yet also claim that he loved her and proposes to her (drama cd 12 year old girl) and somehow those same arguments don’t count? There’s no leg to stand on to argue that sesshomaru and rin were romantic because that’s literally pedophilia, so the only thing they can do is claim he was a terrible guardian?"
We also didn't hear him claim outright that he's (falling) in love with her like you all assume either, so why is one implied but not the other?! It's not like Sesshomaru is known to be a demon of many words anyway, but his actions have sure demonstrated and proven to all of us that he cares for this young girl he took in very deeply and very truly.
Their relationship is akin to one a young girl shares with a grown man who looks after her for a significant amount of time (she didn't view him as just some demon; at the very least he was her lord/vassal from the get-go).
So knowing all that we know about what they've endured together, I'd like to believe that Rin could never ever develop romantic feelings for her main male role model, because whether he was physically there for her less than Jaken was is irrelevant here. What it comes down to is that Sesshomaru is the one she really looked (up) to since that day he brought her back to life. He has protected and cared for her the best way he's been able to and in a way everyone else in her life failed to before. It's safe to assume that Sesshomaru filled that role as you can tell that she finally felt safe and loved for the first time in her life. Now if Rin were to start to become sexually attracted to this demon who basically came to represent everything she lacked in a family, then I'd be deeply troubled and concerned for her mental health. And the same thing applies to Sesshomaru.
I would hope that whenever I have children someday, that they would never become physically intimate with whomever was their babysitter back when they were little. Nah, that man would be arrested!! He was around to watch her grow up and the thought of that being sexualized or romanticized, even if it wasn't intentional, makes me sick. I don't care if she's a consenting adult who is free to make her own decisions or that he's a demon so it's different (it's not), because I guarantee you this is not an image any of us ever want to picture when you really put this into a perspective you can better relate to and understand!
You know, kinda like that one character we keep discussing who was allegedly such a bad dad.
